The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has released a directive stipulating that federal civilian executive branch agencies must refrain from procuring information technology products and services developed by the Chinese artificial intelligence firm, Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence Fundamental Technology Research Co., Ltd., along with its affiliated entities. Furthermore, these agencies are required to eliminate such products from their existing IT infrastructures. Additionally, the directive calls for the removal of all products from DeepSeek and its affiliates, as well as any third-party products and services that incorporate or rely on DeepSeek's technology. This action was taken in compliance with federal procurement supply chain security regulations, subsequent to a thorough assessment of recommendations and evidence presented by the Federal Acquisition Security Council.
