On October 19, the Ministry of Commerce, in collaboration with nine other departments, released a set of opinions aimed at expediting the integration of science and technology to invigorate the commercial sector. These opinions emphasize the importance of propelling the continuous enhancement of product offerings through the implementation of the 'Artificial Intelligence + Manufacturing' special initiative. This involves accelerating the seamless fusion of artificial intelligence technology with various stages of product development, including research and development, design, manufacturing, marketing, and beyond, thereby diversifying the range of smart products available, such as smartphones, computers, home decor, wearable technology, and robotics.

Simultaneously, the opinions advocate for the creation and deployment of smart products grounded in secure and dependable open-source operating systems. This approach aims to expedite the modernization and upgrading of traditional industries, foster the production of superior classic and premium products, establish a lineup of well-known Chinese consumer brands, and encourage the exploration of independently innovative, high-end consumer brands. Moreover, the opinions also suggest a strong focus on advancing technology-driven agriculture, enhancing the quality and efficiency of premium specialty agricultural products, and supporting long-standing enterprises in leveraging contemporary production technologies for product innovation.
