Google has made an announcement revealing that since the inception of the Android Earthquake Early Warning System in 2021, it has successfully dispatched over 1 billion alerts. These alerts have empowered users to take timely preventive measures prior to the onset of severe earthquake tremors. Presently, the system's reach has broadened significantly, extending from an initial coverage of 98 countries and regions to encompassing more than 200. Google has further enhanced its precautionary alert system, ensuring that Android users in regions where the warning service is activated receive alerts categorized into three distinct levels: Be Aware, Take Action, and Act Now. In the upcoming months, the alert interface will progressively incorporate a map delineating the seismic wave-affected radius, an estimated magnitude, guidance for emergency response, and operational buttons for accessing real-time disaster information.
