Based on the most recent court documents that have been made public, U.S. federal prosecutors have revealed that Abdulrahman Alfozan, a Saudi national implicated in the covert installation of recording equipment in the conference room used by OpenAI executives, had arranged one-way air tickets for himself, his spouse, and another relative. These tickets were for a flight departing from San Francisco, making a stopover in Istanbul, and ultimately arriving in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for October 12, prior to his apprehension. Prosecutors suspect that Alfozan possesses both the capability and the incentive to evade capture, prompting them to seek the confidentiality of the associated criminal complaint and arrest warrant—a request that was subsequently granted by the presiding judge. Alfozan, aged 35, was taken into custody on October 9 and continues to be held. He holds the position of investment partner at a Saudi venture capital firm, which boasts a member of the Saudi royal family as one of its partners. According to his background information, he resides in the San Francisco Bay Area and functions as the engineering director at OpenAI, with a specialized focus on AI agents and data platforms.
