On October 13, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) released its Global Financial Stability Report, stating that given the increasing fragility of global financial markets, policymakers need to take action, such as curbing leverage, enhancing debt sustainability, and strengthening cyber defenses. The report noted that despite the resilience of global financial markets, supported by robust economic growth and strong corporate earnings, along with relatively accommodative financial conditions, financial stability risks have risen. The report highlighted three major risks: first, a weakening or continued decline in AI investment and profitability could trigger a correction in AI-related asset prices, a trend exacerbated by rising leverage and concentrated risk exposures; second, a resurgence in inflation or concerns over fiscal conditions could drive a sharp rise in sovereign bond yields, sparking broader market turmoil; third, the digitization and interconnectedness of financial services have made cyber threats an increasingly serious systemic risk.
