On Tuesday, the French AI firm Mistral introduced its latest large-scale model, Mistral Large 4 (ML4, internally dubbed "le Chonk"). This model is a powerhouse, boasting an impressive 1 trillion parameters. It stands out for its exceptional performance across a range of domains, including cybersecurity, coding, manufacturing, finance, and multimodal tasks. The training of ML4 took place in a data center owned by Europeans, utilizing a massive setup of 4,000 NVIDIA GPUs. Currently, ML4 is accessible in a preview edition, with its official rollout slated for the end of this month. Mistral highlights the model's strengths in facilitating local deployment within the EU, ensuring data sovereignty, and adhering to regulatory standards, all with a keen eye on the enterprise sector.
