Doosan Robotics announced on Tuesday that it will develop physical AI technology based on South Korea's domestic AI semiconductors, allowing robots to make autonomous decisions and operate without connecting to the cloud, and achieve the welding proficiency of skilled welders. The company has two projects selected for South Korea's national R&D initiatives, targeting next-generation collaborative robots and intelligent welding solutions, respectively. The projects are jointly managed by South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, with a total R&D budget of approximately KRW 98.9 billion (around USD 73.6 million), including about KRW 68.1 billion in government funding.
