On October 4, 2026, Musk officially confirmed via the X platform that SpaceX's artificial intelligence (AI) subsidiary, originally named SpaceXAI, would undergo a rebranding and be renamed SpaceXSI. He further clarified that the new name would eschew the term 'AI' in favor of 'SI', asserting that 'SI' represents a more apt designation. This development follows a recent executive order signed by U.S. President Trump on September 29, which mandated federal agencies to substitute the term 'artificial intelligence' (AI) with 'superintelligence' (SI) in all official documentation.
