According to Bloomberg, a statement from the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) on September 10 revealed that OpenAI will terminate a pilot program allowing government agencies to use its models for just $1 annually, switching instead to a usage-based pricing system. Under this new system, U.S. federal government employees can access OpenAI's technology at half the standard price. Previously, OpenAI joined the GSA's OneGov marketplace platform to promote the adoption of its models. According to the GSA, during the pilot period, 3.5 million federal employees used OpenAI's ChatGPT, resulting in cumulative cost savings of $1.4 billion.
