On September 8, Firmus, an Australian AI infrastructure firm, unveiled a multi-year strategic alliance with OpenAI. Under this agreement, OpenAI will procure dedicated computing resources from Firmus' two AI data centers (a more commonly used term than "factories" in this context) in Malaysia, thereby establishing itself as Firmus' key customer. Following the execution of this partnership, Firmus has secured contracts for a combined computing capacity surpassing 900 megawatts. Presently, Firmus operates seven AI data centers across Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Among them, two are already operational, while the remaining five are under construction and slated for sequential commissioning over the ensuing 24 months.
