Tong Xin, a distinguished scholar in the realm of graphics, has officially taken on the role of Chief Scientist at Meshy—a rising star in the AI 3D industry founded by Yuanming Hu. Together, Tong Xin and Yuanming Hu aim to spearhead groundbreaking innovations in multimodal world models and real-time interactive systems.
With a remarkable 25-year tenure at Microsoft Research Asia, Tong Xin stands as a prominent figure in China’s graphics community, having mentored a multitude of talented individuals in the field. Meshy, on the other hand, is committed to the efficient conversion of text and images into 3D models. It has amassed a user base exceeding 12 million and has successfully secured a Series B funding round of nearly $400 million, propelling the company’s valuation beyond 10 billion yuan.
Meshy’s vision is to harness AI technology to create joy and value for humanity. Currently, the company is deeply engaged in research across three key areas: redefining graphics, constructing a director system, and enhancing infrastructure. Its latest model, Meshy-7, has made remarkable strides in enhancing the controllability of AI 3D. Furthermore, Meshy recently unveiled the multimodal open-world real-time architecture Mora. Through the collaborative efforts of the Coding agent, 3D generation, and video models, Mora effectively tackles several challenges inherent in existing world models, offering a fresh perspective on the debate over whether “three dimensions are merely a special case of video generation”.
Tong Xin will collaborate closely with the Meshy team to jointly forge new pathways for the future evolution of graphics.
