On August 22, reports emerged that the 35th International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI), held in conjunction with the European Conference on Artificial Intelligence, concluded on August 21 in Bremen, Germany. During the event, numerous international experts highlighted that, in recent years, China has witnessed rapid progress in artificial intelligence (AI) across both scientific research and industrial applications. Areas such as robotics and large language models have positioned China among the global leaders.

Judging by the volume of paper submissions and the diversity of research topics presented at the conference, Chinese research teams demonstrated a high level of engagement across multiple subfields of AI. Professor Caravanese from the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano in Italy—who oversaw the conference’s academic program and paper review process—noted that China submitted the highest number of papers to this year’s conference, with notable contributions in areas such as machine learning, computer vision, and robotics.
