NVIDIA has inked a deal, committing to spend a staggering US$6 billion to secure the license for the AI model development software of burgeoning startup Poolside. Concurrently, as part of this strategic move, NVIDIA will inject US$1 billion into Poolside, valuing the startup at a pre-investment worth of US$12 billion. Moreover, NVIDIA will extend job offers to 109 Poolside employees who have been instrumental in developing the AI model 'Laguna'. These employees will also gain access to NVIDIA's 'Model Factory', a cutting-edge platform for AI model development. Poolside has outlined plans to distribute the US$6 billion among its investors by the end of next year, and its three co-founders are set to retain their leadership positions. It's important to note that this transaction doesn't constitute a full-blown acquisition, nor is it merely a talent grab.
