NVIDIA announced a strategic partnership with SB Energy, a subsidiary of SoftBank, to jointly develop an 8-gigawatt hyperscale AI data center in Ohio, USA, and to provide $1.5 billion in credit support to SB Energy. This data center will be used exclusively by OpenAI as its sole tenant. NVIDIA's move expands its competitive arena from chips and servers to the underlying land, power, and construction resources of AI data centers. By leveraging its own credit endorsement, NVIDIA secures long-term exclusive space for computing power deployment, marking its transition from a mere AI hardware supplier to a core participant and organizer in AI factory infrastructure.
