On July 26, the UK's Financial Times reported that while artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the landscape of white-collar work, it has simultaneously sparked a wave of nostalgia among professionals for the pre-AI work environment. Numerous surveys have highlighted that generative AI has not alleviated the workload of white-collar workers as anticipated. Instead, it has led to a decline in creativity, escalated costs associated with fact-checking, and accelerated the overall work pace.

A survey conducted by consultancy firm Adaptavist revealed that a significant 65% of white-collar employees yearn for the work style that prevailed before the advent of AI. Approximately one-third of respondents believe that AI stifles creativity, while nearly half report that verifying the authenticity of AI-generated content has added to their already burdensome workload. Furthermore, the rise of AI has fueled ongoing debates surrounding job security, ethical considerations, and its environmental impact.
