The State of New York has recently enacted legislation mandating clear and conspicuous disclosure when employing AI-generated "synthetic virtual performers" in advertising materials. This law is set to come into force on June 11, 2026, imposing a fine of $1,000 for the initial offense and $5,000 for each subsequent violation in cases where disclosure is not made. In reaction to this, Amazon now mandates that third-party sellers incorporate specific metadata tags into all product images and videos that feature AI-generated figures. This enables the platform to appropriately label them at the frontend, thereby keeping buyers informed.
