On July 24, the Information Office of the State Council convened a press conference centered on the theme "Kick-off of the 15th Five-Year Plan". At this event, pertinent officials from the Ministry of Public Security delivered a comprehensive summary of the measures undertaken to bolster and protect the nascent stage of the 15th Five-Year Plan. They highlighted that the emerging forms of criminal activities currently being perpetrated through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) predominantly encompass: identity forgery to infiltrate systems and pilfer information and assets, posing as acquaintances or authorities to perpetrate fraud, and fabricating online rumors to destabilize public order. The public security agencies are resolutely dedicated to combating these crimes and the technical teams that provide support for such activities. In the first six months of this year, over 170 cases involving the creation of online rumors using AI technology have been probed, resulting in more than 190 individuals being held accountable.
