On July 24, Yonhap News Agency reported that Bae Kyung-hwan, South Korea’s Minister of Science and ICT, is set to depart for Silicon Valley in the United States later on Thursday (local time). After holding discussions with the CEOs of domestic telecom operators in Seoul, Bae disclosed that the primary objective of his visit is to deepen collaboration and draw investment from leading tech firms in South Korea. The bilateral talks will zero in on AI collaboration, market expansion strategies, AI data center development, and the semiconductor industry. Bae further emphasized that he would seize this occasion to spotlight South Korea’s thriving AI ecosystem and underscore the global prowess of “K-AI.” On Thursday evening, Bae set off for San Francisco, where he engaged in meetings with representatives from prominent U.S. tech giants, including Broadcom, OpenAI, Anthropic, and NVIDIA.
