On July 23, Bloomberg reported that the performance gap between Chinese AI models and their U.S. counterparts narrowed to just 6% in June, down from 9% in May. This shift has raised doubts about the sustainability of the U.S.'s leading position in AI technology. Previously, China's model, Zhipu AI's GLM-5.2, topped the global rankings in agent-based programming. Analysts from Bloomberg Intelligence noted that while NVIDIA chip supplies enable U.S. companies to achieve AI performance breakthroughs at higher costs, Chinese companies are taking a path of smaller scale but higher computational efficiency.
