Social media giant Meta launched a new feature this Tuesday, allowing users to generate AI images using publicly available content from other Instagram accounts by @mentioning them. This feature allowed public content to be referenced by default, raising concerns from institutions such as the Screen Actors Guild of America over potential infringement of portrait rights and criminal risks. Meta ultimately decided to take down the feature entirely, stating that it failed to meet expectations.
