OpenAI has launched a new desktop application that integrates the experiences of Codex and ChatGPT, featuring three core modules: Chat for conversations, ChatGPT Work for professional tasks, and Codex for software development. This app covers the entire workflow, from daily information queries and knowledge-based office tasks to software development. Existing ChatGPT desktop app users can upgrade to the new version, while the old version will be renamed ChatGPT Classic and continue to be supported and used. In terms of data synchronization, chat records between the web and desktop versions will be synchronized, while Work threads and local files in the desktop version will remain on the original device. OpenAI is committed to consolidating scattered AI capabilities into a unified entry point, driving the transformation of AI assistants from single tools to comprehensive workflow productivity platforms.
