According to an internal memo from Meta, the company plans to initiate mass production of its self-developed artificial intelligence chip in September this year, aiming to expand its overall computing power to 14 gigawatts by 2027. This data center chip, codenamed 'Iris,' is the fourth-generation chip in Meta's self-developed MTIA (Meta Training and Inference Acceleration) project. Meta hopes to further optimize the AI operations of its two major social platforms, Facebook and Instagram, through the use of self-developed custom chips.
