On July 7, Meta announced the launch of a new AI image generation tool, Muse Image, developed by Meta's dedicated AI division, Meta Superintelligence Labs. Muse Image, internally codenamed 'Mango' at the company, is now available for free to users through the Meta AI app and is integrated into Meta-owned products such as Instagram Stories and WhatsApp. The tool supports functions like text-to-image generation and image editing, and users can also generate personalized images based on public content from Instagram. In response to copyright and privacy controversies, Meta has added invisible digital watermarks to all AI-generated images and provided an option to 'prohibit AI-based secondary creation by others.' For advanced users and creators, a subscription to Meta's monthly paid plan is required to unlock additional features. Additionally, Muse Image will be incorporated into Meta's advertising service system to help brands efficiently develop advertising creatives. Meta also revealed that the video generation model, Muse Video, is set to launch soon.
