US AI company Utopai Studios has reached a strategic cooperation with Huace Film & TV to produce a fully AI-generated animated series, 'Journey to the West: The Lost Five Hundred Years,' based on the Chinese literary classic 'Journey to the West' using Utopai's AI narrative platform PAI. The series aims to fill in the gaps in the original story, depicting the journey of the imprisoned Sun Wukong as he grows into the guardian of the Golden Cicada. Huace Film & TV will handle the production, while Utopai will hold distribution rights outside of China. Both parties plan to use this as an opportunity to develop a series of IPs covering television, streaming, and theatrical films. Utopai's second-generation PAI platform can retain narrative context, ensuring consistency in long-form serialized content and allowing creators to have more detailed control over the production process.
