On June 23, news emerged that Meta had put an internal AI training project on indefinite hold. This project was designed to train AI systems in software operation by capturing keyboard inputs, mouse movements, and screen displays from employees' work computers. The project's suspension was attributed to incorrectly configured data access permissions, which inadvertently left around 45,000 data tables temporarily open to Meta's internal staff. These tables contained sensitive data, including employees' private chats and work performance metrics. Despite Meta's assertion that there is no evidence of unauthorized data access, a thorough investigation has been launched to look into the matter.
