As reported by The Wall Street Journal, the U.S. government has placed export restrictions on Anthropic’s AI models, igniting a controversy between the regulatory authorities and the company. In response on Wednesday, Trump stated that discussions between the government and Anthropic are "advancing steadily," with the goal of reinstating access to its latest AI models. Earlier, citing national security considerations, the U.S. government prohibited overseas users from accessing Anthropic’s Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models, leading Anthropic to subsequently suspend global access to these services. Presently, both parties are actively negotiating to resolve the underlying security concerns.
