On June 11, JD.com formally introduced China’s inaugural protocol tailored for autonomous payments conducted by intelligent agents—the Agent Autonomous Payment Protocol (A2P2). This protocol is engineered to streamline and enhance the security of AI-facilitated payments, ensuring that each transaction is both queryable and fully traceable. With A2P2, intelligent agents are no longer confined to merely adding products to shopping carts and awaiting user-initiated checkouts. Instead, they gain the capability to autonomously execute payments within predefined parameters. Looking ahead, autonomous payments by intelligent agents are poised to become instrumental in supply chain management and consumer spending environments. The implementation of JD.com’s A2P2 protocol addresses the trust deficit within the payment sector amid the intelligent economy era, laying down a secure, compliant, and regulated foundation for the widespread deployment of intelligent agents in the future.
