Tampa General Hospital in Florida is collaborating with data analytics company Palantir to introduce a real-time data platform for early identification of sepsis, significantly reducing the mortality rate of the disease. According to the hospital's internal analysis, since the system went live in August 2022, it is estimated that approximately 886 patient lives have been saved, with a 68% reduction in early-stage sepsis deaths and a roughly 30% decrease in patient hospital stays.
