According to people familiar with the matter, JPMorgan Chase is recruiting Tahir Zafar, Head of International AI Strategy at Nomura Holdings, to step up its recruitment of AI experts to boost productivity. Zafar joined Nomura in late 2023 and was promoted to his current position in March 2025. He is expected to officially take up his new role at JPMorgan Chase after his 'gardening leave' ends in July, joining the team led by Deep Thomas, Chief Data and Analytics Officer for the Asia-Pacific region.
