On May 20, at the prestigious 79th Cannes Film Festival, ByteDance's Volcano Engine unveiled its cutting-edge AI video generation tool, Seedance 2.0. This milestone event marked the premiere of HELL GRIND, the world's inaugural 95-minute feature film entirely generated by AI. Remarkably, this cinematic achievement was realized by a nimble team of just 15 individuals within a mere 14 days, with a budget under $500,000—a fraction, merely 1%, of the expenses typically incurred for a traditionally produced film of comparable scale. The film stands as a testament to technological prowess, achieving unprecedented feats in character consistency and seamless shot continuity.
Adding to the excitement, Luc Besson's renowned SEEN Studio declared its ambitious plans to forge the first-ever AI-animated feature film. This innovative project will marry the capabilities of Seedance 2.0 with full iPhone live-action footage, pushing the boundaries of cinematic storytelling. Moreover, esteemed entities such as visual effects powerhouse Outpost VFX, advertising and communications giant WPP, and the European AIGC platform Magnific have embraced this revolutionary tool, integrating it seamlessly into their daily content creation workflows.
During the film festival's duration, an additional treat awaited attendees: eight captivating AI short films, all crafted using Seedance 2.0, were showcased, further highlighting the tool's versatility and creative potential.
