On May 20, Singapore's Ministry of Digital Development and Information signed a memorandum of understanding with OpenAI. OpenAI committed to investing over S$300 million (approximately US$234 million) to establish its first applied artificial intelligence laboratory outside the United States in Singapore, aiming to advance applied AI innovation. Over the next few years, the lab will create 200 positions for local technical experts and engineers.
