At the Google I/O Conference, Google CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted the company’s significant strides in artificial intelligence (AI) to a global audience of developers. Pichai revealed that Gemini App, Google’s flagship AI product, has witnessed explosive growth in its user base over the past year. Specifically, its monthly active users surged from 400 million in May 2025 to 900 million by April 2026. Simultaneously, the integration of AI into Google’s core search services has also yielded remarkable results: the monthly active users of the search’s “AI mode” have exceeded 1 billion, while “AI Overviews” now reach over 2.5 billion people worldwide on a monthly basis.
