On May 19, Google announced a major overhaul of Gemini's billing and subscription system, eliminating the previous daily fixed limit on question submissions and adopting a new metering model based on "compute power consumption." The new rules will comprehensively consider the complexity of user prompts, the functions invoked, and the length of conversation history, with quotas refreshing every 5 hours and a weekly cap set. Meanwhile, Google introduced a $100 monthly AI Ultra Basic plan for developers and technical leads, offering higher compute power quotas and benefits such as cloud storage; the highest-tier AI Ultra Premium monthly fee has been reduced from $250 to $200, with compute power quotas reaching 20 times that of standard users. Additionally, AI Pro users will receive a complimentary YouTube Premium Lite service, while AI Plus users will have compute power quotas twice that of standard users.
