In May 2026, China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom sequentially rolled out Token packages along with associated AI services. These offerings catered to individual users, families, developers, and small, medium, and micro-enterprise clients by selling large-scale model invocation volumes. This move signified the official entry of the three major telecom operators into the Token market, a domain previously dominated by large-scale model manufacturers, major internet firms, and cloud service providers.
Capitalizing on their substantial computing power, extensive network infrastructure, and vast user bases, the three major operators have ingeniously encapsulated AI capabilities into standardized products. These products facilitate a pay-as-you-go model through Token units. Their overarching goal is to transcend the traditional constraints of business growth and forge a novel service framework that integrates 'connectivity, computing power, and applications'.
