On Monday, OpenAI declared that the European Union (EU) would be granted access to a specialized cybersecurity iteration of its latest AI model, GPT-5.5-Cyber. This move followed a period of restricted preview access, which was initially extended to select cybersecurity teams. Conversely, over a month after its launch, the EU has yet to gain access to Anthropic's Mythos model.

European Commission spokesperson Thomas Lenier commended OpenAI for its transparency and openness. He confirmed that the initial round of discussions between OpenAI and the EU had concluded, with further consultations scheduled to take place. Lenier also disclosed that the EU is currently engaged in negotiations with Anthropic, albeit with progress trailing behind that achieved with OpenAI.

George Osborne, the Head of Global Affairs at OpenAI, voiced a willingness to collaborate with European counterparts to collectively bolster overall security. Meanwhile, the media has not yet obtained a response from Anthropic regarding this matter.
