On May 8, reports emerged that the Cyberspace Administration of China, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have jointly issued the Implementation Opinions on the Standardized Application and Innovative Development of Agents. These opinions are designed to leverage agents to bolster internet applications and services, thereby refining everyday experiences in areas such as online shopping and travel navigation. Concurrently, they advocate for enhanced collaboration between agents and end-user devices—including smartphones, computers, and automobiles—to boost cross-application and cross-device task management capabilities. Moreover, the opinions call for elevating the standard of agent-based customer support to offer round-the-clock services, as well as developing embodied agents for tasks like guidance and cleaning to boost operational efficiency in commercial settings. Furthermore, they delve into the potential of embodied agents to provide cost-effective services in domains such as housekeeping and elderly care.
