On May 6, OpenAI announced that it has upgraded the default model of ChatGPT to GPT-5.5 Instant, which is now available to free users as well. The new model focuses on accuracy, conciseness, and personalization. In high-risk fields such as healthcare, law, and finance, hallucinatory statements have been reduced by 52.5%, and factually incorrect statements flagged by users have decreased by 37.3%. A new 'Memory Source' feature has been introduced, displaying historical conversations that influence responses, allowing users to delete or correct them at any time. Responses are now more concise, reducing unnecessary follow-up questions, emojis, and complex formatting, while adopting a warmer and more natural tone.
