On April 22, 2026, Microsoft declared its involvement in the 'Glass Wing Initiative' initiated by the artificial intelligence firm Anthropic, assuming the role of one of its principal partners. As per the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will secure access to Anthropic's cutting-edge AI model, Mythos, and incorporate it into its cybersecurity defense framework to detect and rectify potential software vulnerabilities.
Mythos stands as the most potent general-purpose large-scale model crafted by Anthropic to date. It has independently unearthed thousands of significant flaws in software applications, including operating systems and browsers. To avert the misuse of this technology, Anthropic has refrained from releasing Mythos to the general public. Instead, it offers limited access exclusively to partners within the 'Glass Wing Initiative' and around 40 organizations responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure.
Beyond Microsoft, other tech and cybersecurity giants such as Amazon, Apple, Google, and NVIDIA have also embraced the initiative. Microsoft has expressed its intention to leverage Mythos to carry out comprehensive security audits on the Azure cloud platform and Windows systems, thereby sharpening its ability to counter zero-day vulnerabilities.
