On April 10, Bloomberg reported that OpenAI disclosed to investors this week that its early and substantial increase in computing resources has provided a critical edge over competitor Anthropic. Currently experiencing rapid growth, Anthropic is considering an initial public offering (IPO). In the memo, OpenAI highlighted that its rapid and sustained expansion of computational power supports broader software applications, enabling it to stay ahead of Anthropic. OpenAI stated that its available computing capacity will reach 1.9 gigawatts in 2025, triple that of the previous year, and is projected to grow at a low double-digit rate next year, reaching approximately 30 gigawatts by 2030. In comparison, OpenAI estimates that Anthropic will possess 1.4 gigawatts of computational capacity by the end of 2025, rising to 7-8 gigawatts next year.
