On March 11, Meta announced on Wednesday the launch of four in-house chips specifically designed for artificial intelligence tasks as part of its large-scale data center expansion plan. Among them, the first chip, MTIA 300, has been in use for several weeks, primarily for training small-scale AI models in Meta's core ranking and recommendation systems. The upcoming MTIA 400, MTIA 450, and MTIA 500 chips will focus on handling more advanced generative AI inference tasks, such as generating images and videos based on user text prompts.
