On February 10, 2026, Tencent Hunyuan introduced the "ultra-compact" HY-1.8B-2Bit model, specifically tailored for consumer hardware. Built upon a 1.8 billion-parameter foundation, this model leverages cutting-edge 2Bit quantization technology, effectively reducing its equivalent parameter count to around 0.3 billion and trimming its storage requirements down to a mere 600MB—markedly smaller than the majority of mobile applications. Through the implementation of Quantization-Aware Training (QAT), the model not only shrinks to one-sixth of its original size but also experiences a 2-3 fold increase in generation speed. Remarkably, it preserves the original model's chain-of-thought reasoning abilities and is fully compatible with deployment on a wide array of edge devices, including smartphones, earbuds, and smart home systems.
