On February 9, Firmus Technologies, an Australian company specializing in artificial intelligence infrastructure, declared that it had successfully raised $10 billion in debt financing. This financing round was spearheaded by a fund managed by the Blackstone Group, with additional investment from the financial investment institution Coatue. Firmus revealed that the funds from this round would be earmarked for the expansion of its data center network. The company has set an ambitious goal to construct data centers in Australia with a combined capacity of 1.6 gigawatts by the year 2028. Prior to this, Firmus had already embarked on a collaborative venture with NVIDIA to invest in and develop renewable energy-powered AI data centers across Australia, with a total investment projected to reach AUD 4.5 billion (equivalent to approximately USD 2.9 billion).
