Based on OpenAI's strategic blueprint, ChatGPT is projected to amass a staggering 2.6 billion weekly active users by 2030. This figure would represent nearly one-third of the global populace and signify a threefold surge from its current user base, which stands at approximately 900 million. Within this vast user community, it's anticipated that around 220 million individuals will opt for paid subscriptions, pushing the paid conversion rate up to 8.5%. To fuel this business expansion, OpenAI is actively considering the integration of advertising and e-commerce features. The company aims to monetize its free user base through advertising sales and by sharing commissions derived from users' online purchases. At present, ChatGPT's user demographic is predominantly situated outside the United States and Canada. Moreover, the average revenue per user in international markets remains comparatively modest, presenting a hurdle to the anticipated growth in advertising revenue.
