On December 9 (local time), a collaborative effort unfolded as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Block came together to spearhead the creation of the Agent AI Foundation (AAIF). This initiative was established under the auspices of the Linux Foundation and garnered the support of industry giants such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Bloomberg, and Cloudflare. The overarching goal of the AAIF is to offer a neutral governance framework for open and interoperable infrastructure. By doing so, it seeks to pave the way for agent AI systems to make the leap from experimental realms to real-world, practical applications.
