On December 3, The Paper carried a report stating that Cai Lei, a patient suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and the former vice president of JD.com, conveyed in an exclusive interview (conducted through an eye-tracking device) his intention to explore brain-computer interface technology if eye-control technology falls short of his work requirements. In the interview, he mentioned that he has actively promoted and facilitated relevant clinical research at several institutions, such as Huashan Hospital and Tangdu Hospital, with a significant number of fellow ALS patients participating in these studies. Cai Lei firmly believes that, in the not-too-distant future, humans will possess the capability to directly interact with the world using nothing but their thoughts.
