Musk is forging ahead with the strategy of substituting X Corp employees with artificial intelligence (AI). He has recently laid off half of the engineering team that was tasked with combating spam, influence operations, illegal content, as well as trust and safety issues. Before this latest round of layoffs, the team comprised fewer than 20 members. In stark contrast, when Musk took over Twitter in 2022, the team boasted a headcount of over 100. Previously, Musk had announced that X's heuristic recommendation algorithm would be scrapped and replaced by Grok. Grok is designed to automatically align with user interests by comprehensively reading and analyzing all content.
