On November 19, the AI startup Firebird obtained approval from the U.S. government to export Nvidia chips to Armenia. These chips are intended for the construction of the country's supercomputer project, a key component of the global AI infrastructure development initiative. Earlier in June of this year, Nvidia declared its plan to construct its inaugural large-scale AI data center in the region. The project boasts an initial investment of $500 million and a total capacity of 100 megawatts. It will leverage Dell Technologies' AI servers alongside Nvidia's cutting-edge Blackwell processors. Razmig Hovaghimian, the CEO and co-founder of Firebird, disclosed that the first phase of the project is slated to commence operations in the second quarter of the upcoming year. Firebird stands as one among Nvidia's numerous partners, all of whom are striving to set up high-performance data centers in remote regions. Their collective goal is to propel the advancement of AI applications and strengthen its computing infrastructure.
