Wang Xingxing, the founder of Unitree Technology, has, for the first time, commented on the widespread attention his master's graduation thesis has garnered. He disclosed that the XDog, a small electric-driven quadruped robot featured in his 2016 thesis, served as the blueprint for Unitree's robotic dog. He also shared that the idea for this innovation had taken root as early as 2013. Since 2009, Wang Xingxing has harbored ambitions of constructing humanoid robots. However, the technological constraints and lack of commercialization opportunities at the time hindered further progress. Today, with the strides made in AI and large-scale model technologies, humanoid robots are experiencing a surge in development. Wang Xingxing further urged fellow entrepreneurs to have the courage to envision and pursue future possibilities. It's noteworthy that Wang Xingxing completed his undergraduate studies at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University and subsequently pursued graduate studies at Shanghai University. During his undergraduate tenure, in 2013, he crafted the inaugural quadruped robot, XDog. He then showcased it at a competition in 2015, where it clinched the second prize along with a prize money of 80,000 yuan.
