On October 31, international news outlets reported that NVIDIA (NVDA.O) had inked a major deal to furnish technology to a number of prominent South Korean companies, signaling a decisive step forward in its worldwide endeavor to expand artificial intelligence infrastructure. Per the accord reached with South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT, along with Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor, and SK Group, NVIDIA is set to deliver in excess of 260,000 accelerator chips. These chips will underpin the rollout of artificial intelligence initiatives across South Korea. The American firm has chosen to keep the financial specifics of this agreement under wraps. As a component of this deal, the South Korean government is in the process of building a 'sovereign artificial intelligence' computing framework. This term denotes computing facilities that are directed and overseen by the government. This framework will see the installation of over 50,000 of NVIDIA's most recent AI accelerator chips within data centers. These include centers at the National AI Computing Center, as well as those operated by entities like Kakao, Naver, and NHN Cloud.
