On October 28, 2025, the European Commission engaged in discussions with eight prominent European investment institutions in Brussels, with the intention of setting up a technology investment fund. This fund is projected to have a capacity spanning from 3 billion to 5 billion euros, and its primary goal is to foster the growth of key technology enterprises within Europe. In the current landscape, European technology companies often encounter a funding shortfall during the later financing stages. This newly proposed fund is designed to bridge that gap. By doing so, it aims to empower start - ups to scale up their operations within Europe, thereby reducing the likelihood of them relocating in pursuit of overseas capital. The fund's investment strategy will be centered around 'strategic and enabling technologies'. These encompass advanced materials, clean energy, and artificial intelligence. If all goes according to plan, the fund is anticipated to make its official debut in April 2026.
